February 14, 2011 HAPPY FRIENDSHIP DAY!

That’s what it is here and I am glad that all of you are my friends.

In my last note, I neglected to state the obvious.  I realized that I was including an important detail when I explained to my neighbours what happened, but I didn’t tell you.  The detail is that when I saw the gun, I started praying for the Lord’s protection and He gave me His peace that passes understanding.  (Phil. 4:6, 7)

Another issue I’ve been dealing with results from my allergy to dust and dirt.  This is nothing compared to so many friends who are dealing with cancer and major issues, but all the same, I’d appreciate prayer.  Shortly after returning from Canada, I started to have a problem that had surfaced before I left, but cleared up while I was gone.  There has been noise in my ears that is like a mixture of the pressure you experience coming down from high altitudes and the sensation of water in the ear after swimming.  I went to the specialist with the ear problem.  He found a throat problem and so he’s treating the nose.  :)  I don’t have a sore throat, but he says I have chronic pharyngitis which is caused by or irritated by the inflammation in my nose which is due to allergies.  All the inflammation is causing the ear problems.  With the medications, the problem is clearing up, so today he told me to continue them.  We’ll see how I’m doing after a month, but he says it will take several months to clear up.  Please pray for a quick healing.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, night there will be a meeting at the church of all the people from church who live in the target area of the new church plant.  I’ll write more about that in the near future, but at this point I’d ask that you pray for the meeting tomorrow that the communication of the vision and time-line be clear and that there would be a solid group who want to participate in the new church plant.  I’d also like to ask you to pray for the Lord to bring the church-planting team together in His perfect timing because I’m the only one left from the original team.

On a side note, it is hot here!  It’s been in the low to mid 30s C (90s F) and the breeze doesn’t enter my apt.  There was a light rain one night (which brings out the mosquitoes), but it’s raining in other areas so that the river is up.  But we’re still experiencing water shortages due to problems at the water plant.

As I mentioned earlier, I feel blessed to have so many friends supporting and praying for me.  Reflecting on that, I think of the hymn, What a Friend We Have in Jesus.  He is the common bond among us and the reason for me to be here with your backing.  Praise God for sending His Son to die in our place so we could enter into a personal relationship with Him!  “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”  (John 3:16)  Now that’s a heart of love!

Happy Friendship Day!
