January 30, 2025 Prayer Requests

Posted on January 30, 2025 at 3:17 pm by Brenda Matthews

I hope this letter finds you well. I ran out of time to write a full report, so I will include January’s news in the February update. I will be leaving shortly for The Gathering, our annual TEAM Mexico missionary conference, so I likely won’t be able to respond to emails until next week, but I want to leave several prayer requests with you.

Please join me in prayer for the following:

  • Annual Conference (today – Feb 3): As the planning team has shared, “This year, we will focus on the Core Unifier Unity/Purpose, meditating on Ephesians 4:1-6 as we reflect on ‘Unity in Christ, United in God’s Mission.’” Please pray for safe travels—especially for those traveling long distances—good health, deep fellowship, and spiritual refreshment.
  • Small Group Gathering: While I am away, my small group will meet without me. Pray that it will be a time of meaningful fellowship as they share what the Lord has been showing them over the past week. Please also pray for Aracely, as this will be her first time leading the meeting.
  • Financial Needs & Praise: I recently lost another beloved financial supporter and another supporting church has closed. (This sounds like what I wrote last year!) However, today I received the wonderful news that the church still plans to send support for this year—praise the Lord! I trust that God will continue to supply your needs so that you can, in turn, continue to support me as He leads. I also want to express my deep gratitude for His provision. Some support has come through faithful financial partners, while some has arrived from anonymous sources. I am thankful for each of you!
  • Retirement Home Assignment Planning: Next month, I hope to finalize my visits outside of Ontario. Once that is done, I will begin scheduling my Ontario visits, which will take place in the fall and winter. Praise the Lord, I have already purchased flights for all but one trip (covering the East Coast and then the West Coast/Alberta). I am also incredibly grateful for the provision of a vehicle for my remaining travels. My heart overflows with gratitude!
  • Willy’s U.S. Visa Interview (February 10): Please pray for Willy and his family as they travel for his visa interview. Pray for safety, smooth procedures, and—if the Lord wills—that his visa will be granted.
  • El Faro’s Valentine’s Outreach: Pray for this upcoming event—that it will be a meaningful opportunity to share God’s love with the community.
  • Poleth’s New Ministry in El Faro: Poleth, a young woman from the Mexicali church, has felt the Lord leading her to serve as a tentmaker missionary in El Faro. The Lord has provided for her in amazing ways—she was able to transfer her bank job from Mexicali to La Paz, and she has a home next door to Willy and Isela. She will primarily be working with the youth. Please pray for her and her family as they adjust to this transition. Her parents have been here this week helping her settle in while also ministering at El Faro.
  • Property Title Transfer: Another step has been taken in the long process of transferring the property title. Please pray that we will continue making progress toward this goal.
  • Greeters Ministry Transition: I have been working with my replacement, and we have a meeting planned for February 16th to make the leadership transition official. At that point, I will step back into a greeter role while he takes over leading the ministry.
  • Health Needs: Please lift up several friends—both “here” and “there”—who need the Lord’s healing touch.

Thank you for your prayers for these friends, these upcoming events, and for me as I navigate this year of transition and preparation for a new adventure. How good it is to trust in our faithful God and rest in His care and provision!

Blessings,

Brenda
