Thanks to all of you who started to pray right away for Jessica and Salomé.
You may remember, when I wrote about Jenny receiving Christ as Lord and Saviour, that it was Irma who invited her to our small group. Irma also invited Salomé and Jessica to our small group.
Jessica only began attending two weeks ago. She had to leave early from the first lesson due to transportation problems, but she stayed to the last minute she could and said that she hated to have to leave because she was so enjoying the study. We’re studying The Person of Jesus with the focus on honesty. That lesson was from Mark 3 where Jesus healed the man with the withered hand, but the focus was on Jesus’ anger and the lessons we need to learn about controlling anger and the correct use of anger.
Jessica came last Friday to make up the part she missed, but she started off sharing with me how she had put into practice what she had learned and how that had made a tremendous difference in her home. But she also shared with me her deep heartache due to her husband’s infidelity and rejection by her own family for not leaving him. Instead of going over the lesson, I had a wonderful time explaining the Gospel to her. Some of you may be shocked, but I asked her NOT to make a decision right away, but to think about all we had read in the Bible and to go over the tract I gave her. Why? Because I didn’t want her to just make an emotional decision as an escape from her problems and not a decision that she understood with a commitment to follow Christ.
Jessica came back yesterday to make up that class, but we didn’t get to the class again. She was radiant telling me about how much better things are in her home. Don’t misunderstand, there are still a lot of hurt and wrong behaviours, but as she has worked at controlling her anger, others haven’t been responding in anger. When I asked if she had thought about what we talked about, she indicated that she had, that she understood and that she wanted to give her life to Christ!!!!!!!!! Time to party!!!!!!!!!!
Please continue to pray for Jessica. Her husband is abusive and an alcoholic (from what she’s told me), but I Peter 3 says that he could be won for Christ through her witness. Please pray for her faith to take root and be strengthened and for God to use her to bring salvation to her family.
And please keep praying for the salvation of Salomé. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if Friday I could write to let you know that she accepted Christ as Lord and Saviour at our small group Thursday?!
